A
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SITE
On
29th June 1944 troups from the Feldgendarmerie department of the Hermann
Goering division slaughtered all the men of San Pancrazio in the cellar
of this building, then known as Fattoria Pierangeli, which
dates back to 1700.Among them was their priest, Don Giuseppe Torelli,
whose name has been given to the Intercultural Centre.Burned down after
the massacre by these same Germans, the building lay abandoned for a long
period until, during the seventies, it was acquired by the local administration
who, after a series of operations paying special attention to its original
architectural features, completed its careful restoration, at the beginning
of the summer of 2000.
